Don't pop the hutch

Ugh, I need to work on my blog post titles.

Anyway, we have a built in hutch in our dining room.  Which was  painted an ugly puke green color when we moved in, so Matt and I immediately painted it white, to match all the doors and trim in the house.  It houses Matt's pint glass collection, cookbooks, and paper plates.  It also acts as our bar/liquor cabinet area.  But the thing is, Matt and I don't really drink at home unless we have people over or if we just did a bunch of yard work.  Neither of which happen very often.  So it pretty much just sat there collecting dust.

I figured the booze would probably be better hidden away, since we never use it anyway.  So I pulled out all this crap from the cabinet below:

And put all the a-a-a-a-alcohol in there, and organized the top shelf a bit:

Notice I said a bit.  At some point I'm going to paint the inside white, so it doesn't look like your stepping through time when you open the doors.  (but how cool would that be?....hmmm...)

Here;s a rundown of all the items, for those of you nosey types (I love nosey types!) 

The "K" was a cheap find at Marshall's, which used to be red, but I used some of the left over mirror paint to change it to dark brown.  The framed photo of the sexy beast Kendalls was from somewhere around 2004, when we had only been dating a year or two.  I took Matt to the greatest place on earth The Minnesota State Fair.  We were eating corn on the cob, not to be confused with Ty Cobb.  The pear was from Marshall's and had been acting as a door stop in the office.

The stack of books were picked by moi mainly for the color of their spines, but they are some of my current favs too.

I left the champagne out, because champagne is awesome, obviously. (And the bottles were a birthday present and wedding present)  The little bottle in the middle was a gift from Matt's parents at our wedding.  We're planning to drink it on our 5 year anniversary.  The art print used to be on the blue wall to the left, and the blue glass is from Door County.  Nothing spectacular or special, but I'm liking it so far.

And that's actually what it still looks like, I wasn't in the mood to tackle that monstrosity yet. :)

Anyway, just a little something something for you all to have piece of mind that I haven't just been eating bon bons and sitting on my butt all these weeks.  Well, not the bon bons anyway.... :)
